Fifth‐generation bedmaker Harrison Spinks has been awarded the prestigious Bed of the Year accolade at the 2020 National Bed Federation Awards, for a 100% foam‐free, gluefree and FR chemical treatment free mattress that can be recycled at the end of its life.
Harrison Spinks’ latest sustainable innovation is at the core of the mattress design. Its Cortec Quad glue‐free eco‐spring®, which is part of the Cortec® glue‐free spring system family, means the award winning product will contribute towards solving a growing environmental problem in the UK, where over 100,000 mattresses a week are burned or end up in landfill.
Judges said the mattress demonstrated Harrison Spinks’ ‘innovative approach to sustainable manufacturing, combining a vertically integrated supply chain with unique Cortec® springs’ and were particularly impressed with the creation of a ‘recyclable, glue‐free premium mattress that can be rolled’ in an ‘innovative, commercial and aesthetic’ fashion. The collection has seen the bedmaker take the ‘mattress in a box market to a higher level aligned with the existing Harrison Spinks brand position.'

Exclusively for independent retailers, mattresses from the collection are rolled and ecopacked for ease of storage, fast and efficient delivery, and simple installation. There are nine mattresses in the collection and each comes with a 60‐night comfort guarantee. The collection is made
in Yorkshire from the finest natural and sustainable materials, including the bedmaker’s own in‐house woven FR chem‐free wool viscose tick.
